Tina Turner is getting a Barbie Doll and we are so excited about it.
Mattel made the announcement on their Instagram page where they wrote, “Barbie is proud to honor the unmatched career of the “Queen of Rock n’ Roll” with a Tina Turner Barbie Doll.”
The doll was inspired by Turner’s iconic look from the video of her hit song “What’s Love Got To Do With It.” It is meticulously detailed from the hair to the denim jacket, the fishnet stockings, and the black heels.
Bill Greening, Barbie’s Principal Designer spoke on what it was like to work on the doll. “Let’s just say Tina has been on my wish list for a very long time. We started in right about the time she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” he said. “We used a lot of screen grabs to see the hair at all angles. Lots of teasing and hairspray was involved.”
Turner also expressed her feelings about the doll. “I am honored to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented and introduce more kids to my journey,” she said.
Tina Turner is the fifth artist to be added to the Barbie Signature Music Series.
