Michael B. Jordan, the actor who was once called corny at Newark Arts High School, is receiving his own star at the Newark Walk of Fame.

As Allhiphop exclusively reports, the honor, the Newark Walk of Fame star is an inaugural accolade that places him at the forefront of what will eventually be a lineup of over 300 legendary names.

The honor took place during the premiere of Sinners, Jordan’s latest film at CityPlex 12. Since Jordan was absent from the premiere, his mother, father, and sister were there to accept the acknowledgment.

Mayor Ras Baraka, Councilman Dupre “Doitall” Kelly and other city leaders were on hand to present the star and deliver an official city proclamation honoring Jordan for his contributions to film and his ongoing commitment to the Newark community.

Sinners

A swaggering vampire file, Sinners, discusses race and class divisions in America. The film takes its time building suspense, first establishing the world of 1932 Mississippi in which a group of Black characters gathers at a newly-opened juke joint, only to discover that some of their white neighbors are vampires.

Jordan plays twin brothers, joined by a high-profile supporting cast that includes Hailee Steinfeld and Delroy Lindo.

Jordan recently partnered with Propel Fitness Water to bring fitness to Newark residents. The actor said he hopes folks will learn more about Brick City Rowing, a rowing club based in Newark. He ultimately wants the community to be exposed to new ways of being active.
