Michael Ealy to Portray Malcolm X in Prime Video’s ‘The Greatest’ Muhammad Ali Series

Prime Video’s upcoming limited series, The Greatest, has cast Michael Ealy as civil rights leader Malcolm X. The series, centered on the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, is set to begin filming in Toronto on April 21, 2025, and will conclude on July 22, 2025.

Produced by Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, The Greatest aims to provide a comprehensive look at Ali’s life beyond the boxing ring. The series will explore his roles as an anti-war advocate, showman, and humanitarian.

Jaalen Best, known for his role in All American: Homecoming, will portray Muhammad Ali. The series is being developed with the involvement of Ali’s estate, ensuring an authentic portrayal of the legendary boxer’s life.

Ben Watkins serves as the showrunner and executive producer. The production team includes notable figures such as Lonnie Ali, Ali’s widow, and Elizabeth Raposo, President of Outlier Society. Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation, also joins as an executive producer.

Michael Ealy’s portrayal of Malcolm X is anticipated to delve into the complex relationship between the activist and Muhammad Ali. Their friendship and eventual estrangement were pivotal moments in both of their lives.

The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. A release date has yet to be announced.

The Greatest promises to offer viewers an in-depth look at Muhammad Ali’s multifaceted life, highlighting his impact both inside and outside the boxing ring.
