Even Michelle Obama enjoys reality TV.
During a recent episode of Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast, the former First Lady, 61, shared some of her favorite TV shows.
“I am a Real Housewives person. I love the dating shows, you know. I don’t agree with them all, but I love to watch,” she said. She also noted that her daughters Malia and Sasha watch Love Island together.
“I watched that only with them because I’m as amused at their feedback and their commentary as I am with what’s going on,” she continued.
More of her favorite TV shows include The White Lotus, Running Point, Nobody Wants This, and Shrinking.
“I love Shrinking. [It’s] my favorite with Harrison Ford. That whole cast is amazing. I love that showrunner [Bill Lawrence],” Obama added. “I’m a Ted Lasso fan too.”
While she prefers more light-hearted TV shows, former president Barack Obama is a fan of darker programming. Their distinct differences sometimes cause disputes.
“Barack and I, we sometimes argue over what can we watch jointly because he likes death and darkness,” she said. “I said, ‘You know, you like the plots where everybody’s sad and then they die.”
When she’s not watching TV, Obama is co-hosting her podcast IMO, with her brother Craig Robinson.
“With everything going on in the world, we’re all looking for answers and people to turn to,” she said at the time of the launch.
“My brother Craig and I launched the IMO podcast to create a space for people to come as they are, ask honest questions, give their opinions, and have thoughtful conversations about life.”
IMO features the former first lady and her brother sharing their “candid perspectives” and addressing “everyday questions shaping our lives, relationships, and the world around us.”
