Fashion icon and entrepreneur Misa Hylton is reportedly willing to end her $5 million lawsuit against R&B legend Mary J. Blige—if Blige takes action to revive the stalled music career of rapper Vado.
The dispute centers around conflicting agreements. Vado is currently signed to Mary J. Blige’s Beautiful Life Productions for music distribution and is managed by Misa Hylton. According to legal filings, Blige allegedly pressured the Harlem rapper to sever ties with Hylton and threatened to halt his career if he didn’t comply.
“She exhausted every avenue before resorting to the courts,” Hylton’s attorney Nicholas Ramcharitar told AllHipHop. “It’s tragic. These women were closer than biological sisters. Misa did everything to keep this private—calls, texts, even letters to Mary’s legal team.”
The lawsuit accuses Blige of blocking Vado from releasing his music, joining her tour, and participating in promotional opportunities—moves Hylton says were in direct retaliation for his refusal to leave her management.
“Last time they were good was on the Amalfi Coast in August,” Ramcharitar said. “After that—radio silence. No texts, no calls, no invites. Misa chalked it up to Mary being busy, but the pattern continued.”
A Path to Resolution?
Despite the legal action, Hylton appears open to resolving the matter amicably—if Blige upholds her professional commitments to Vado.
“If Mary steps up, honors the agreement, gets Vado on tour, back in the studio—yeah, that could move the needle,” Ramcharitar explained. “But there’s more to consider: legal fees, lost opportunities, emotional distress.”
The lawsuit also claims Blige tried to persuade Vado to abandon his management deal through lavish offers—yacht parties, private events, and more. Hylton believes the effort was motivated by Blige’s boyfriend and head of security, who allegedly aimed to manage Vado himself.
Hylton is seeking $5 million in damages and an injunction to prevent further interference. But she may reconsider the suit if her client’s music is released and his career momentum is restored.
So far, Blige has not publicly responded to the allegations.
