Mo’Nique, Andra Day Star In Lee Daniels’ ‘The Deliverance’

The trailer for Lee Daniels’ forthcoming supernatural horror thriller, The Deliverance, has just been released.

Led by Academy Award nominee Andra Daythe film chronicles the chaos that surrounds her character Ebony Jackson. 

The synopsis is inspired by the 2011 reports of a haunting in Gary, Indiana.The Deliverance tells a similar story where Ebony, a woman from Pennsylvania whose life is upended as her sons Andre (Anthony B. Jenkins) and Nate (Caleb McLaughlin) are tormented by a malevolent entity. 

“Father, we ask that you cleanse and sanctify us for this deliverance,” Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, playing Reverend Bernice James, says at one point in the dark and moody trailer as an attempt to deliver the house, and Ebony’s family, from chaotic possession.

The Deliverance marks the second collaboration between director Lee Daniels and Day, with their first being the 2021 drama “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.” Day went on to be nominated for best performance by an actress in a leading role at the 2021 Academy Awards for her portrayal of the iconic jazz singer.

Additional stars include Glenn Close, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
