Now that October is around the corner, Halloween festivities and films are underway.
As reported on The Jasmine Brand, Michael Ealy and Omar Epps will star in a new thriller movie called, The Devil You Know.
The film is about Marcus Cowans, played by Power Book III: Raising Kanan star Omar Epps, “who after a lifetime of trouble, begins to turn things around due to the love and support of his family,” according to the article. However, Epps’ character will soon find himself in the crosshairs of a cop, played by Ealy.
Charles Murray wrote the film for Lionsgate and Command Films. Other stars include Keisha Epps (Omar Epps wife), Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Glynn Turman.
Epps spoke on the film and said, “The Devil You Know is an exploration of family, morality, and brotherhood. It challenges generational and cultural conditioning in an authentic way that leads back to protecting one’s humanity; I’m excited for audiences to experience this film for years to come.”
Ealy said, “For me, it always starts with what’s on the page. I’ve been positioning myself to work behind the camera, so when Charles and I were discussing another project, he sent me this script. My connection to this family was immediate and I was intrigued, especially because I didn’t come from a big family. I wanted to be involved, and after a few deeper conversations, it was apparent that my interest went beyond being in front of the camera. Thankfully Charles agreed.”
