Nas revealed that he has no interest in performing during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
During an interview with Complex, the legendary rapper was asked if he liked to be considered to performer. Although he described the event as “super rockstar sh*t,” Nas prefers “to leave it to others.”
“Nah, I don’t want to do … I can’t say I don’t want to do the Super Bowl, but I don’t,” Nas said. “Why would I do that? Leave it to the professionals. Leave it to the pros. I’m a pro at what I do.
“I want to watch dope halftime shows and that’s what has been happening lately, so salute to all of them,” he added.
While performing at the Super Bowl may not be on Nas’s things to do list, he had nothing but praise for Kendrick Lamar, who performed in 2025
When speaking of Lamar, Nas described him as the “North Star” of the culture.
“We all, as artists, love this art form and have our opinions on it. Kendrick is one of the brightest stars we’ve ever seen, and I don’t only mean superstar. I mean like the North Star,” he said. “I think he’s one of those. Out of all the artists in this business, there’s some that’s not here for the art. When we see those people that are not here for the art, damaging it, you’re hurting the future of the art. So I think artists like Kendrick are going to speak out.”
Nas addressed fans’ attempt to stir up beef between him and Jay-Z after his casino proposal was accepted.
“It is just a thing that some people are going to talk about,” he stated. “No one has any control over things like that. I still study Rakim and Big Daddy Kane. Some rap fans just like to go off on those things from time to time. That’s it.”
