This weekend was very interesting for the boxing world.
Retired boxing legends Mike Tyson, 54, and Roy Jones Jr., 51 squared up for a good ole fight in the ring. Even though the end was declared a draw, it was still an exciting night.
Before the big fight, former basketball star Nate Robinson and YouTuber Jake Paul had their boxing match. Fans were a little confused as to why these two were paired together. However, back in May, Nate spoke on wanting to fight Jake in the ring after Jake won a match against AnEsonGib. Nate said to TMZ Sports,
“I want all the smoke. I’m a top-tier athlete. You beating me would probably be the biggest accomplishment for your boxing career, or social media influencer – whatever. That’s your biggest claim to fame right now is knocking out Nate Robinson, so come do it. I’m putting my everything on the line for you. Let’s get it done. It’s that simple.”
Welp, Nate got what he was asking for. During the match with him and Jake, Jake served him a crazy knockout in the second round, ending the fight. Jake won and many wondered what Nate would have to say. Nate wrote a message online on Instagram. He said,
“Thank you everyone for all of the well wishes, I’m OK. I appreciate @triller for the opportunity as well as everyone that has backed me during the fight. To my coaches, trainers, fans, and teammates, I appreciate all of the time and support you guys put in with me…it wasn’t the outcome that we wanted, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to fight on the biggest stage that there has been.”
