Ne-Yo, singer of “Closer,” did not appreciate a fan getting close to his stage performance.

On Saturday (Sept 27), the renown singer and songwriter performed at Glion Arena Kobe in Kobe, Japan. The show was part of his ‘LIVE in KOBE 2025’ Tour.

As he was singing his 2007 hit, “Because of You,” a male concert goer managed to access the stage to approach the singer. Ne-Yo, a veteran performer, continued to sing without missing a beat as the fan approached him and turned to the crowd with his arms raised.

Ne-Yo then used the close proximity to grab the bold fan by his neck and shove him off stage. A security guard quickly escorted the fan off the stage.

After the show, Ne-Yo reposted the video to his Instagram after the person who shot the clip uploaded it to social media.

“This is what you DON’T do. I’m a gentleman but I WILL slap the s—out of a person disrespecting my stage,” NE-YO wrote.

He continued: “And then keep the party going. Don’t try me. All love, til it’s not.”

A confused fan reacted to the clip on X: “I can see a women doing this. But a full grown man climbing on stage to a love song.”

Ne-Yo performed at the Blue Note Jazz Festival Japan 2025 over the weekend. He’ll head back to Las Vegas for an appearance on Oct. 11. The R&B singer is slated to perform in Asia this December for a show in Sri Lanka before kicking off 2026 at Singapore’s Singland Festival.
