The world was in frenzy when a video surfaced of a 16-year-old girl being kidnapped right off the street, in front of her mother.
Reports later revealed that the young girl, Karol Sanchez, staged the whole thing. Reported on CBS, when she returned- she admitted to authorities that it was a hoax.
The teen was going to move back to Honduras with her mother and used the attack as a way to stay in New York City. As of right now, Karol will not be charged.
New details reveal that Karol staged the kidnapping because she didn’t want to move away from her 23-year-old boyfriend. The boyfriend, whose identity has yet to be released, is reportedly apart of the Crip gang. According to reports, the man has been previously arrested on murder and attempted charges. He was one of the 4 men apart of the staged kidnapping. He also has a long list of criminal records.
No arrest has been made as of yet, but we will keep you updated.
