Although the stimulus checks are on the way, will it be enough to hold Americans down until the pandemic is over?
Since no one knows when things will “go back to normal” its hard to say exactly when the crisis will end.
Reported on Business Insider, the democrats are proposing an Emergency Money for the People Act that would give them $2,000 a month plus $500 per child. The bill was introduced yesterday (April 14) by Rep. Tim Ryan, a former presidential candidate. In a press release, he said, “As millions of Americans file for unemployment week over week, we have to work quickly to patch the dam — and that means putting cash in the hands of hard-working families.”
Under the proposal, “US citizens who are 16 or older — and make less than $130,000 a year — would receive cash payments from the federal government for at least six months and until unemployment falls to pre-pandemic levels.”
Over 22 million Americans were forced to file for unemployment and the numbers could increase as the pandemic continues.
