Juelz Santana fled Newark’s Liberty International Airport security checkpoint in Terminal C after a gun was discovered in his luggage.
TSA agents noticed the rapper’s firearm and were prepared to search the man properly known as LaRon Santana. Instead of sticking around to answer questions about his belongings, he took off on foot and was nowhere to found – until now.
Santana reportedly grew nervous – just after 6:00 p.m – when he arrived at the TSA checkpoint and asked security to quickly check his bags so he could make his 6:25 p.m. flight to San Francisco, CA. As agents searched his left-behind-belongs, they discovered a loaded Derringer .38-caliber gun.
The criminal complaint regarding James’ incident says, “Upon seeing that his bag had garnered additional attention from the TSA security screening, James retreated from the security checkpoint area without his belongings and departed Newark Airport in a taxi.”
The New Jersey-bred hit maker surrendered himself early Monday morning (Mar. 12) around 1:00 a.m., and was taken into custody at the Port Authority Newark Airport. He’s now been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and an unidentified federal warrant.
This isn’t Juelz’s first run-in with the law. He’s encountered a series of legal cases over the years for illegal gun possession, assault, and drug charges.
