It was predicted that the 1992 remake was projected to make around $15 million due to COVID-19 concerns.
BET stated that “Candyman’s appeal to a diverse audience was part of the reason for the big box office win.”
They added, “with a Black creative team, which included producer Jordan Peele, behind the reboot, the movie was expected to draw a large Black audience.”
The movie drew in a wider viewership from white, Asian, and Latino audiences.
