Nia Long recently revealed that she turned down the advances of music superhero Prince.

During an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, Long detailed how everything went down.

“I was at Roxbury back in the day and I had on my Kenneth Cole pumps—I remember!” Long recalled. “We were walking out of the club and this guy tries to grab my hand. And I’m like, ‘I’m from Brooklyn, don’t be grabbing me, touching on me!’”

Long’s friend quickly told her who he was trying to get her attention.

“We get outside and my girlfriend was like, ‘Girl, you know that was Prince!’” When Long and her friend ran back into the establishment, Prince had already left.

Long explained that the moment took place early-to-mid ’90s, when Prince was always popping up at the Los Angeles nightspots. But there’s more to the story.

“There’s a happy ending,”she explained. Long’s girlfriend threw her a birthday party and invited Prince.

“I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, Prince is at my birthday party!’” Long said. “I sit next to Prince and I’m having this whole flashback about being in the club… and he wanted to talk about my hair all night.”

Long said that Prince wanted to talk about hair upkeep instead of music.

“I’ll take what I can get,” Long laughed. “It’s Prince. I was like, whatever you want—we can buy hair, makeup, skincare, whatever you want.”

Along with her encounter with Prince, Long  is reuniting with Larenz Tate for an upcoming film on Netflix.

While the synopsis has not been revealed the film is inspired from Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite, the debut album from Maxwell.

In addition to being the cast, Long and Tate will executive produce the film alongside R&B artist Maxwell and John D. Hammond. Kay Oyegun and Eugene Ashe are writers, with Ashe also the director.
