Nick Cannon is revealing his political ideology.
On the latest episode of his web series “Big Drive,” Cannon shared with guest Amber Rose some of his ideas about politics.
Rose began by saying that “Democrats don’t care about Black people, and they don’t care about people of color. And the Republicans do.” Rose described herself as a former liberal who is now a supporter of Donald Trump.
”I agree with you 100 percent,” Cannon responded. “People don’t know that the Democrats are the party of the KKK. People don’t know that the Republicans are the party that freed the slaves.”
Cannon’s admission was not entirely accurate. To provide further context, the Republicans (the “Party of Lincoln”) championed a strong federal government and civil rights. At the same time, the Democrats were the party of states’ rights and the rural South. This began to change in the early 20th century as Democrats embraced “Big Government” through the New Deal to combat the Great Depression.
But the real rupture occurred during the 1960s Civil Rights era, when Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, and many conservative Southern Democrats—feeling betrayed by federal overreach—migrated to the Republican Party.
”Both you and I have some conservative views. You’re just a little bit more outspoken than I am,” he said. “And honestly, I don’t subscribe to either party. I rock with W. E. B. Du Bois, when he said there’s no such thing as two parties. It’s just one evil party with two different names.”
Cannon then shared his enthusiasm for Trump and his presidential tactics.
”Motherf—er’s cleaning house! He’s doing what he said he was gonna do,” Cannon said.
“We got the Gulf of America now! He’s like the club,” Cannon continued. “He’s charging a $5 million bottle service fee to get into the country.”
Cannon added, “I f— with Trump.”
In 2024, Cannon did not endorse a presidential candidate. During the 2020 election, Cannon put his support behind Kanye West’s failed candidacy.
