When it comes to BBL’s today, Niecy Nash says you can thank her.
The Emmy-winning actress joked that she launched the trend back in the 2000s.
Appearing on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Nash spoke about the prosthetic booty she wore while playing Deputy Raineesha on Reno 911!?
“Can I just ask about Reno 911!? That was Travis and I’s favorite show growing up. You were fantastic. How fun was it working on that show?” Jason asked.
“It was a lot of fun, great fun. The worst thing about it and the best thing about it was the booty that I wore in it,” Nash responded.
Nash-Betts said they took a mold of her real butt and “magnified it three times” her size.
“So you had the BBL [Brazilian butt lift] in Reno 911!,” Jason joked.
Nash noted, “Before it was even popular, right?”
Nash aslo spoke about the fake booty on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast back in January.
“The women in my family, I did not see them on TV. Now, you can buy a butt on every corner. Then, it wasn’t popular to have all of the…you know what I mean? I went to so many booty fittings, like you don’t even understand. They couldn’t get it right because they were building it straight back,” she said.
Nash explained that to get the mold right, she brought in one of her friends.
“She had the natural slamma-jamma. I’m like, you see you have to start from the hips and wrap it around, Nash said. “I got the booty right.”
Nash also took credit for the Reno 911 reunion in 2020.
“To come back and put on my uniform and get back together with my friends in an unscripted environment was delicious to me. It was like no time passed,” Nash-Betts told PEOPLE at the time.
“I don’t care what you hear on the streets. I single-handedly take credit for Reno coming back. For all these years we’ve been off television, I constantly, every couple of months, will email the gang, ‘Guys, we should get back together, let’s do it again.’ I think I kept putting it in the universe, and it manifested.”
