Larry Miller, the current chairman of Nike’s Jordan brand is opening up about a secret he has kept for more than 50 years.
As reported by The Grio, Miller was a 16-year-old gang member from West Philadelphia when he was convicted of shooting and killing Edward White, 18. Miller would plead guilty to second-degree murder and be sentenced to four years and six months in prison.
In his new memoir, Jump: My Secret Journey from the Streets to the Boardroom, he met with White’s family, who was already a father at the time of his death in 1965.
White’s sister, Barbara Mack, her nephew Hasan Adams, and White’s daughter, Azizah Arline met with Miller, in which the sister and nephew revealed that they had forgiven him. Arline stated that she is not 100% forgiving.
NBC’s Shepard Smith tweeted about the interview with Miller. See the post below.
"If nothing else comes out of this book, that is the most important thing for me: to be able to know that in spite of the pain and hurt that I've caused they're family, that they're willing to forgive me," Larry Miller says, after he met with family of the 18-year-old he killed. pic.twitter.com/32fSvsxM0o
