Blacc Sam is keeping his brother’s name alive through philanthropy.
The late, great rapper’s older brother, Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, handed out turkeys to families in need in honor of the Crenshaw native in their South Los Angeles hometown.
The Neighborhood Nip Foundation, alongside the Think Watts Foundation, held its first annual turkey drive Tuesday afternoon. In total, over 2,500 free turkeys and other groceries were shared to create Thanksgiving meals, per TMZ.
The event was the first activation from the foundation’s Slauson Avenue parking lot, the site of the late Nipsey Hussle’s original Marathon Clothing propert
“This is where my brother first sold his mixed tape. He ended up opening businesses in this parking lot and then buying the whole lot,” Asghedom said.
“We turned this whole lot into the Neighborhood Nip Foundation. So, it’s real important to be able to activate from here.”
Asghedom said this is the foundation’s first public event since the retail lot transformed into a community-centered hub for youth and families.
“I think any time we can come out and help, throughout the year is the plan … It’s an honor to be able to activate and do something here,” he said. The turkey giveaway takes place Tuesday, Nov. 25, from noon to 4 p.m. at 3420 W. Slauson Ave.
Blacc Sam is reportedly working on an eight-episode docuseries about Nipsey. Via the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, which debuted a new sign, he has been the lead on various philanthropic initiatives since his brother’s untimely death in 2019.
