Normani and DeKaylin “DK” Metcalf can hear wedding bells.
The R&B songstress and the NFL star, 27, announced their engagement nearly two years after they officially became an item on Instagram in July 2023.
Metcalf, who recently signed a new contract worth $150 million with the Pittsburgh Steelers, shared the news while speaking at the team’s press conference.
“My family and her family was in Houston. It was my sister’s Spring Break and I just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with the ring,” said Metcalf who proposed on Wednesday (March 12).
“Hold that rock up, baby,” the superstar wide receiver added.
Metcalf also told reporters that he intended to propose last year, but their schedules did not coincide. When asked how he proposed, Metcalf said, “I started sending her flowers with a story and then the last letter on the flower was ‘Will you marry?’ And she said yes.”
In 2020, Ciara and Russell Wilson introduced Normani and Metcalf to each other. Metcalf said the power couple already congratulated them on their engagement.
In an interview with Rolling Stone last June, Normani gushed over Metcalf sharing just how happy she is.
“I am very happy. Definitely an answered prayer,” she said. “I’ve experienced a lot with relationships. I’m a real lover girl. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and finding space where that’s reciprocated feels good. I like to see myself happy. I really do.”
Regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, Metcalf is a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2020, 2023) and an Associated Press Second-Team All-Pro selection in 2020.
Normani is a former member of Fifth Harmony, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. As a solo artist she released debut studio album, Dopamine (2024), which was led by the top 20 single “Wild Side” (featuring Cardi B).
