Gen-alpha protégé’s Lil Novi, Lil Wayne’s son, and North West, Kanye West’s daughter, are proving that they are next in line to hold the hip hop torch.
Lil’ Novi and North West have released their first music collaboration titled, ‘Justswagup.’ The surprise track features artist MAG!C alongside Lil Novi, whose real name is Neal Carter. North, the producer, shared on her Instagram story that the beat was made exclusively by her.
In the track, an 808, bass-forward, distorted beat can be heard under Lil Novi’s gritty, auto-tuned delivery.
Lil Novi is Lil Wayne’s youngest son whom he shared with singer Nivea. He was born on Nov. 30, 2009 only two months after his brother Kameron, whose mother is Lauren London.
Nivea, has spoken about being pregnant at the same time as London.
“I found out the day I was confirmed pregnant with our son that he had another one that should be expected three months ahead of ours,” Nivea told VLADTV in 2019, explaining that she got close with London during that time. “It’s still a testament to the type of man [Lil Wayne] is because all of his baby mothers, we’re all cool with each other.”
Neal regularly hangs out with his siblings and even rapped alongside his brothers on their dad’s 2020 mixtape No Ceilings 3.
North West, born June 15, 2013 is the eldest daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. The 12-year old has appeared alongside her dad in several music videos and recordings. North can be seen in the music video for her father’s 2014 single “Only One” and is also featured on 2024’s “Talking / Once Again.”
Following the steps of her dad, North announced that her debut album will be titled, The Elementary School Dropout a reference to Kanye’s 2004 debut album The College Dropout. There is currently no release date for it.
