Allyson Felix’s Motherhood Journey
Felix’s journey to motherhood has been marked by resilience and advocacy, themes that resonate throughout her recent experiences. In discussing her birthing journey, she emphasized the importance of feeling heard and supported.
“I had a doula who supported, guided and believed in me. I was able to have the unmedicated VBAC I deeply desired,” Felix explained.
Her personal experiences shape her commitment to advocating for Black maternal health. Felix’s advocacy extends beyond her own story, aiming to amplify the voices of marginalized women and championing systemic change.
“My birth experience inspires me to continue to advocate for Black maternal health and the outcomes we can achieve when we listen [to] and support women,” she remarked.
Already parents to their daughter Camryn, Felix and Ferguson eagerly anticipated the expansion of their family. Their journey into parenthood is led by a shared commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for their children.
Felix’s journey into motherhood hasn’t been without its challenges. In 2019, she found herself embroiled in a public dispute with her sponsor, Nike, over their maternity policy. Drawing from her own experiences, Felix courageously spoke out against the inequities faced by female athletes.

“There have been so many women before me who had to stay silent about their fight… I hope that we’re really changing things,” she shared.
