Stacey Abrams could make history as Georgia’s first African-American female governor come next Tuesday (Nov. 6), but the road to the win isn’t easy. So, Oprah Winfrey is joining Georgia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate to change the face of politics in the South.

Oprah is scheduled to accompany Abrams, who’s a graduate of the illustrious Spelman College, this Thursday (Nov. 1) at two town hall conversations — one in Cobb County and one in DeKalb County.

BuzzFeed News says, “Winfrey has rarely campaigned in-person with political candidates, but did so with Obama in 2008 (she endorsed Hillary Clinton in her presidential bid in 2016).” Thus, her involvement in this campaign should signify the importance of the 2018 midterm elections and the candidates runninig for office.

With so much at stake — from the current presidential administration’s ability to change social policy to your local police department being required to wear body cameras — America is facing one of its most crucial elections in history with the state of Georgia standing as one of the more controversial elections taking place.

Abrams told BuzzFeed News, “I am honored to have Oprah join me for uplifting and honest conversations with voters about the clear choice before us in this election and the boundless potential of Georgians.”
