Oprah is taking on another project and it’s with Broadway.
The media mogul has partnered with Broadway to run a campaign for those who are waiting for the return of theater in NYC. According to reports, a three-minute sizzle titled This Is Broadway will air on various morning show networks as well as OprahDaily.com.
The sizzle will be narrated by Winfrey and it will feature some iconic scenes and shots from multiple Broadway shows. The footage will include the original cast of Dreamgirls, Hamilton, and moments from Denzel Washington, Audra McDonald, and more.
The creator of the campaign, Drew Hodges said, “We don’t have a ton of money, so I hope people will also share it on their social media.”
He continued, “The whole goal is to tell people that, no matter how unsure you are right now about going to the theater, let’s remind you of how much you love it, how much you’ve missed it.”
Theaters were closed by Governor Andrew Cuomo in March 2020 in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. There are plans for Broadway to fully open in September, however, event-goers are required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
