Paris Jackson, daughter of the late pop icon Michael Jackson, has firmly denied any involvement in the upcoming biopic Michael, pushing back against actor Colman Domingo’s recent remarks suggesting otherwise. She says her only engagement was reading an early draft of the script, offering notes, and then walking away.
At a high-profile gala during the Venice Film Festival on August 31, actor Colman Domingo, who portrays Joe Jackson in the film, shared that both Paris and her brother Prince had been “very much in support of our film.” He described Paris as “warm and lovely” during their brief meeting at the event.
Paris Jackson Pushes Back
Shortly afterward, Paris took to Instagram to set the record straight. “Don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol,” she wrote, calling the suggestion “so weird.”
She continued her explanation in a follow-up post: “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest / didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.”
Paris clarified further in video posts, stating she had “0% involvement … aside from giving feedback on the first draft and then getting the feedback that [production] was not actually going to address your notes at all.” She emphasized, “So I just butted out and left it alone because it’s not my project.”
Jackson used her platform to criticize what she sees as a common Hollywood tendency to sanitize true stories. “The film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it,” she said. “These biopics … it’s fantasy land. It’s not real but it’s sold to you as real … a lot of inaccuracy … a lot of full-blown lies.”
She went on to address rumors implying resentment toward her late father. “That’s not my truth. That’s not where I’m coming from. I just prefer honesty over sales and monetary gain,” she stated, pointing out that her stance reflects a desire for authenticity rather than profit. “Leave me out of it,” she reiterated.
Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, is set to star Jaafar Jackson—Michael Jackson’s nephew—as the King of Pop. The film is produced by John Branca, John McClain, and Michael’s son Prince Jackson. It is scheduled for theatrical release on April 24, 2026, by Lionsgate domestically and Universal internationally.
