Pastor Michael Todd has finally broken his silence on Druski’s viral Megachurch skit.
Todd addressed the Druski’s depiction of the church culture during his Sunday sermon,
”There was a video that came out this past week with a few hundred million views. And some people were trying to link it to me, and so I watched the video. It was hilarious,” Todd said at the 39-minute mark of the video. “And it was funny.”
Todd described it as an “attack on people’s lives of distraction.”
The thing I was most taken aback by was how much frustration it created in people,” he said. “Like, I was literally watching people go back and forth with people, denounce people, and call people names. I stepped back for a second, I said, ‘Oh my gosh. All this was an attack on people’s lives of distraction.”
”You thought it was some attack on the church,” Todd went on. “No, it was an attack on focus.”
Todd also noted that he didn’t know about Druski’s skit because he’s been off social media.
“I had a few people tell me what was going on. And I was like, ‘That’s crazy! I don’t even got a Rolls-Royce,’ he said. “And I thought, what?! I didn’t know. Like, people AI-ing pictures and doing stuff. Like, I said, ‘I don’t remember being that big.’”
Christian rapper Lecrae said in an Instagram post that Druski pulled up a mirror to certain aspects of the Black Church. He also argued that there were “wolves in the pulpit,” calling out church leaders who prioritize money over spirituality.
“My first reaction was not offense, but recognition,” Lecrae explained.
“I think the reason people are upset is because we think the church is the sacred ground where no one is allowed to critique, criticize, or make fun of,” Lecrae said.
