Patrick Beverley’s attorney has vehemently denied the assault charges that her client is facing. The 37-year-old is accused of choking and punching his 15-year-old sister in a family dispute.
Letitia Quinones-Hollins released a statement to TMZ Sports claiming that Beverley is innocent.
“Patrick is not a violent man and was not violent that night,” Quinones-Hollins said in a statement. “In fact, he was very respectful with the authorities that night and encouraged others to do the same. He has always looked out for their well-being and will continue to do so.”
“I have every expectation that when all the facts are in, Patrick will be cleared of these charges.”
Beverley was arrested last Friday in Texas and was charged with Assault on a Family Member/Household Member, Impeding Breath or Circulation. After posting his $40,000 bond, Beverley was released from custody.
According to the police reports, Beverly discovered his” teenage sister at home alone with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night.”
Beverley allegedly grabbed her “by her neck with both hands” and lifted her off the ground, the affidavit stated. He then squeezed her neck for about 20 to 30 seconds, causing her to feel she was “losing oxygen and not able to breathe.” She claims he “slammed her against walls while still holding her by the neck.” Beverley allegedly “punched her approximately one time on her left eye with a closed fist.”
The teenager allegedly said Beverley told her, “he will be the family relative to kill her.” After the incident, the affidavit says, he followed her boyfriend out of the house.
At the time of the incident, Quinones-Hollins shared a statement about the details of the altercation.
“Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister – a young lady, a minor,” the statement reads. “Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described. We look forward to the opportunity to address that in court.”
