Nigerian authorities are trying to see if the death of Davido’s son could have bee prevented.
Davido and his family are dealing with a tragic situation. Earlier this week, Davido’s three year old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, passed away in Lagos after drowning.
CNN reports the horrible incident happened in the pool of the superstar’s home in the upmarket Lagos neighborhood, Banana Island. When it first happened, Nigerian police arrested eight domestic staff workers. Authorities released six after police discovered they weren’t directly connected to the incident.
The Jasmine Brand reports Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for Lagos Police, said:
“Eight members of his domestic staff were taken in for questioning, but a nanny and one other person are still being questioned. After our interrogation, six people were allowed to go because they don’t have any direct bearing with the incident.”
Hundeyin said: “It appears to be drowning but we need to conduct our investigation to ascertain that.” It’s not clear if the nanny is charged or how she’s directly connected. An investigation is underway, police will review the CCTV footage from the scene.
The outlet also point out, Davido and his fiancee, “Chioma Rowland, a chef and influencer also known as Chef Chi, were not home when tragedy struck, police said.”
As of yet, Davido hasn’t spoke out publicly. Celebrities showered him with love and support:
