After five seasons, 50 Cent’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan has come to an end with an explosive season finale trailer. The series is returning for its final chapter, with the Season 5 premiere scheduled for June 12.

Raq (Patina Miller) is not dead, and that spells trouble for Kanan (Mekai Curtis).

”You ain’t never had an enemy like me,” Raq tells Kanan, who responds, “I’ve had you as an enemy my whole f—ing life.”

According to the series synopsis, “Kanan’s true ruthlessness takes shape. He knows exactly who he is and who he must become to defeat his enemies. As his relationship with Raq reaches a point of no return, and any chance of reconciliation becomes a distant memory, war is inevitable.”

“Kanan solidifies his place in the Queens drug game alongside Breeze, the Southside legend, and their alliance sets the stage for a reckoning that will ripple through every player in this dangerous business. However, nothing will stand in the way of Kanan’s pursuit of power.”

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, original Power creator Courtney A. Kemp spoke about why the series has been so successful.

“I don’t think people understand why Power works. They saw it from the outside and went, ‘Oh, that’s a drug show.’ But it’s not really a drug show. It’s a Shakespearean drama about morality, and everybody’s in modern times; they’re saying the N-word a lot. I’m glad nobody has figured out my formula,” said Kemp.

”If someone were to come along and be like, ‘I’m the new Bruno Mars,’ they would never be the new Bruno Mars,” Kemp continued. “Whether you like him or not, you gotta respect the game. The man knows what he’s doing, and he can be whatever he wants to be at any given time. And that’s what I’m doing.”
