Pras, one-third of The Fugees, has reignited tensions with Lauryn Hill in a diss track titled Bar Mitzfa. The track, obtained by AllHipHop, sees Pras airing his grievances and placing blame on Hill for the cancellation of The Fugees’ recent U.S. tour.
In the song, Pras raps, “Don’t blame me, blame her, she made the mess.” He also reveals his refusal to contribute any more financially, stating, “Not another f*ckin’ penny, what I told ‘Clef.” These bars seem to imply that the blame for the tour’s cancellation lies with Hill, rather than logistical or external factors.
Pras’ Frustration Unleashed
This isn’t the first time Pras has publicly expressed frustration with Hill. After the U.S. tour cancellation, he told TMZ Hip Hop, “I saved her reputation for 20 years by not telling my side of the story, but oops… cat’s out the bag.” His words suggest long-standing issues between the two artists, with Pras claiming he has kept quiet to protect Hill’s image.
Hill, known for her solo success with The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, responded to the tour cancellation, attributing it to media sensationalism. She claimed that certain media outlets created a narrative that affected ticket sales. “The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal,” Hill stated.
While Hill cites media narratives as the cause of the tour’s failure, fans have speculated that low ticket sales were a more likely reason. Many have pointed to Hill’s history of canceling shows or arriving late as contributing factors.
Despite the drama surrounding the U.S. tour, Hill confirmed that the European leg of The Fugees’ reunion tour is still on track. Fans in the U.K. and Europe can look forward to seeing the iconic group in October.
