Prayers Up: Actor Clarence Williams III Passed Away From Colon Cancer 

Clarence Williams III has transitioned.

The actor lost his battle to colon cancer and passed away at 81-years-old. He died over the weekend, but news reports surfaced Sunday and today (June 6 & 7). 

Williams’ manager, Allan Mindel, confirmed the loss. Mindel said Williams passed away in his Los Angeles home. 

The Jasmine Brand points out, one of Williams’ most famous acting roles was in the 1984 movie Purple Rain, where he played Prince’s father. He also had roles on television shows like Miami ViceStar Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Everybody Hates Chris.

Lenny Kravitz spoke out via Instagram. In a heartfelt post, he said, 

“When I was a kid growing up in NYC, Clarence Williams III was a face on TV that I identified with, and that inspired me. From the Mod Squad to Purple Rain and Sugar Hill, he always performed with dynamic energy. Rest in power, king.” Take a look:
