Prosecutors made a surprising move in Diddy’s trial.
According to reports, prosecutors decided to drop a few charges against the disgraced media mogul, including attempted arson, kidnapping, and aiding and abetting sex trafficking. In a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, prosecutors said that they followed his instructions to “streamline” the jury instructions.
Reports also say that prosecutors have failed to prove that Diddy kidnapped his former employee, Capricorn Clark. The prosecutors also decided to get rid of the attempted arson charge, which rapper Kid Cudi claimed that Diddy blew up his car out of jealousy, but they couldn’t link him to the crime.
For the aiding and abetting sex trafficking charge, prosecutors didn’t explain why they were dropping the charges, but they will not be dropping the other sex trafficking charges, just certain elements of them.
The letter also states that they want jurors to be clear on the instructions that were given, such as, “just because a woman (Jane Doe) received compensation does not preclude a finding of forced labor which relates to sex trafficking.”
