After facing delays due to last year’s SAG and WGA strikes, Queen Latifah is thrilled to be returning to the set of The Equalizer for its explosive season 4 premiere.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress expressed her excitement to resume filming and her desire to bring a big-name guest star on board.
“I would love to get Dolly Parton on this show,” Latifah revealed. “We came very close to being able to make it happen last year. So I don’t know if we’ll be able to do it this year, but I would love to get Dolly on.”
The desire to have Dolly Parton as a guest star stems from their previous collaboration on the 2012 film Joyful Noise. Latifah fondly recalls Parton’s amazing personality and down-to-earth demeanor, describing her as someone who has inspired her since childhood.
“We did a movie together called Joyful Noise, and she was just the most amazing person,” Latifah said. “She’s just a real down-to-earth, cool person who’s inspired me since I was a little girl…. she kicks butt, too. She’s just as funky as anybody. So I would love to get Dolly on here. I’ll just put it out there.”
“That’s my girl,” she added. “I just love her.”
Parton, however, is currently focused on bringing her life story to Broadway as a musical. Despite her busy schedule, there may still be hope for a collaboration between the two stars. During an interview with Greatest Hits Radio, Parton expressed her intent to keep working as long as she’s able.
“As long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good and my husband is good, the only way that I would ever slow down would be for that reason,” Parton stated.
As for The Equalizer, Latifah promises an action-packed season filled with twists and turns.
“We are going to give the people what they need,” Latifah assured. “You will get the family, the love, [and] you will get all the action you can handle. You are going to get explosions. You are going to get people diving and ducking and all that good stuff.”
Season 4 of The Equalizer is set to premiere on Feb. 18 on CBS, and fans eagerly anticipate whether Dolly Parton will make an appearance on the hit series.
