R. Kelly was released from Cook County jail on Saturday, (Mar. 9) after an anonymous person allegedly paid $161,000 on his behalf.
The singer was arrested for outstanding child support payments. This is the second time in 2 weeks Kelly was released from the Chicago jail. He had outstanding payments dating back to eight months.
R. Kelly’s publicist reportedly told press that the singer only had $60,000 to contribute to the outstanding amount. He stated he couldn’t work due to his on-going criminal cases.
After being released, Kelly told reporters, “I promise, we will straighten this out. That is all I can say right now.”
Last month, Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse pertaining to four women. A 47-year-old suburban woman posted his $100,000 bail.
Who paid $161,663.00 for R. Kelly to get out of jail — his owed child support? It’s a mystery. It’s “unusual” not to be stated in document I just obtained ⬇️ below. @cbschicago https://t.co/RR77CZxX0J pic.twitter.com/wzatuWtEnH
