Radio Legend Donnie Simpson Ends ‘The Donnie Simpson Show’ After 8 Years

Today (Jan 11.) Legendary local and national radio personality Donnie Simpson announced that The Donnie Simpson Show on DC’s MAJIC 102.3 will end on Friday.

Simpson made the announcement on-air with co-host Tony Perkins reiterating that neither of them are retiring. The 69 year-old Radio Hall of Famer has been with WMMJ since August 2015. Perkins, a longtime Washington area and Good Morning America meteorologist, has co-hosted the show since 2018.

Per NBC Washington, Simpson is excited for his next chapter, which includes his podcast and Video Soul TV show which originally aired on BET and can now be seen on the streaming service Tubi.

Simpson has hosted The Donnie Simpson Show on MAJIC since 2015. The show airs Monday-Friday from 3-7 p.m. Previously, he hosted The Donnie Simpson Morning Show from 1993-2010.

Simpson, who will turn 70 on January 30, was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2020.

Local listeners took to social media to thank the radio legend for his work and dedication after 55 years on-air.

“I’m going to miss doing the show, Donnie’s going to miss it, too, but he’s got some great things planned,” Perkins said. “We loved doing the show. Thank you for all the responses on social media.”
