Ray J, whose real name is Willie Norwood, was arrested by Los Angeles police on Thanksgiving after the agency received a call reporting a domestic dispute.
Police told ABC News that a 911 caller reported a possible custody dispute and said Ray J was possibly armed.
Reports from celebrity outlets including TMZ said that the 44-year-old singer was livestreaming on Instagram about having “the worst Thanksgiving in the f—— world.”
Ray J allegedly grabbed a handgun from the table and argued with estranged wife, Princess Love Norwood, over the custody of their children, according to reports about the livestream.
In an Instagram video, which Love shared on Thursday afternoon (Nov 27), she spoke directly to Ray and vented out about co-parenting and the chaos that follows. She posted the video with the caption, “Enough is enough,” according to TMZ. The actress emphasized that she will never put her kids—Melody and Epik—in danger … and that includes “leaving them with a man who’s waving a gun around.” She slammed Ray J, who was seen holding the handgun during the livestream.
As Love claims, “Ray, you just pointed a gun,” he responds, “Drive drunk, Princess. Go ‘head. You wanna take my kids? You and ‘yo drunk cousin?”
Ray J then calls Love and her cousins “alcoholics.” As he asks who will drive if they leave, Love replies, “I’m not driving! You just pointed a gun at us.” In response, Ray J states, “I didn’t point nothing at y’all.
Then asking Love why she woke their daughter up, she replies, “All I wanted to do was have a good Thanksgiving.”
Princess also accuses the “Wait a Minute” singer of being “a woman abuser” in the back-and-forth spat.
“I called the police,” Princess is later heard telling Ray J, prompting him to respond, “I’ll shoot the f—ing police.”
He then claimed people were threatening him before he appeared to grab a handgun and load it while live on camera.
“If these n—-s step foot close to this door, I’m going to blow this f–king s–t away, bro,” the “One Wish” singer said.
Background audio from the incident captured a child crying and sirens as police seemingly arrived at the scene. Ray J was arrested and placed behind bars at a Los Angeles jail.
He was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
Ray J and Princess Love, who also starred in “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” together from 2014 to 2019, share two children together: Melody Love Norwood, 7, and Epik Ray Norwood, 5.
