Ray J is finally addressing the long-standing rumors surrounding his alleged involvement his relationship with the late Whitney Houston.

On an episode of Cam Newton’s “Funky Friday”, Ray J spoke candidly about false narratives and shared his unwavering love for the late singer.

He expressed that every time he goes on Instagram Live, viewers persistently accuse him of murdering Houston. “If you look on all my comments, every time I go live, ‘You killed Whitney.’ That happens in spam.”

“I wasn’t even in the same city,” Ray J said, explaining he was in San Diego preparing for a performance while Whitney was in Los Angeles. He shared that they had plans to attend Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy event together and were going to publicly confirm their romantic relationship that night. “That was my people,” he said, describing their bond as deeply personal and genuine. “To me, she wasn’t just Whitney Houston. She was Whitney.”

Ray J clarified that he initially was not allowed upstairs of the hotel following Houston’s death on February 11, 2012. He was later admitted in the late evening when family was permitted. He shared that Houston’s bodyguard, named Ray, was the one who initially found her. This subsequently ignited rumors that Ray J was the one who found Houston.

Rumors of Drug Use

The “One Wish” singer made it clear that he had never did drugs with Houston or supplied drugs to any high profile celebrity. The clarification arrives after rumors were reignited during recent court testimony in a separate high-profile case involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.

“I’ve never done one drug with Whitney. And when n***as ask me, ‘Did Whitney do drugs,’ there’s certain things you can ask me, and I’ll tell you about me.” Ray J continued, “But, you don’t gotta ask me the other question, because you already f***king know. It’s Whitney. Everybody knows her answers.”

Newton proceed to clearly ask Ray J if he ever witnessed Whitney Houston doing drugs. Ray replied, “Whitney? I don’t want to talk about that. I’m way younger. She’s in control, she’s Whitney, she’s a boss. So, to make me the big dog, I’m not the big dog. I’m the little n***a. I’m the little homie.” Ray also talked about how he and Whitney started dating and all of their good times together.

Throughout the interview, Ray J emphasized that he’s kept quiet out of respect for Whitney and her legacy. But with the continued spread of misinformation, he felt it was time to speak out. “This conversation was never supposed to happen,” he admitted. “But I have to defend myself—for me, and for my kids.” Despite years of media scrutiny, Ray J expressed he is still deeply affected.
