R&B singer and reality TV personality Ray J says doctors have told him he may have only months left to live amid a serious health battle. The 45-year-old made the comments in a livestream and social media videos this week.
Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., revealed the prognosis after a recent hospitalization in Las Vegas for severe pneumonia. He said his heart is functioning at only about 25 percent of capacity.
“This is what they say,” Ray J said in one video clip streamed on Instagram, referring to doctors’ warnings. “2027 is definitely a wrap for me.”
Serious Health Struggles
In the videos, Ray J described feeling weakened and reflective about his past lifestyle. He attributed the damage to years of heavy alcohol consumption and drug use, including Adderall.
“My heart’s only beating at like 25 percent,” he said. “I shouldn’t have went this hard, bro.”
At times emotional, he acknowledged the support he has received from fans, family and prayer. He thanked followers for their messages and urged them to take their own health seriously.
Ray J singled out his sister, singer Brandy, crediting her with helping during his crisis. He said she has taken him to appointments and helped pay medical bills.
Reflections and Family
The singer also spoke about his children and ex-wife, Princess Love. Ray J said he wants them to be financially secure regardless of his future. “My baby mama gonna be straight, my kids gonna be straight,” he said.
In another moment, he discussed his wishes for after he dies. “When it’s all done, burn me, don’t bury me,” Ray J told the camera.
Earlier this month, TMZ first reported that he had been rushed to a Las Vegas hospital with severe pneumonia and intense chest pain.
Fans quickly reacted to the stark update online. Many expressed concern and offered prayers. Some urged Ray J to focus on rest and recovery.
The health update arrives as Ray J also navigates legal and personal challenges. He has been involved in a high-profile lawsuit with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, and he is going through a divorce with Princess Love.
Despite the grim prognosis, Ray J emphasized his determination to manage his condition and to stay focused on support from loved ones.
