R&B groups Hi-Five and H-Town have come together for an new collaboration.
The brand new joint single “Slow Grind” embodies the soulful and steamy vibes of 90s R&B.
Both groups have continued to be active over the years following their breakout success in the 90’s. Hi-Five now consists of Marcus Sanders, Shannon Gill, Treston Irby, Billy Covington & Faruq Evans. H-Town’s lineup is Solomon “Shazam” Conner & Darryl “G.I.” Jackson.
Hi-Five
A Texas ensemble, R&B vocal group Hi-Five found success with their number one Hot 100 single in 1991, “I Like the Way (The Kissing Game).” The group consists of Waco, Texas natives Tony Thompson, Roderick Clark, Marcus Sanders, Russell Neal, and Toriano Easley. Tony Thompson died in 2007 from a freon overdose after he had been inhaling it from an air conditioning unit. On July 2, 2014, former Hi-Five member Russell Neal was charged with murder, over the fatal stabbing of his wife in Houston.
Former member Roderick “Pooh” Clark died on April 17, 2022, at the age of 49
H-Town
A Houston, Texas R&B group, H-Town peaked with the 1993 single “Knockin’ da Boots,” a number three pop hit. H-Town was founded in 1990 by brothers Keven “Dino” Conner Solomon “Shazam” Conner and their friend Darryl “G.I.” Jackson. Keven unfortunately passed away in 2003 with his wife in a car crash. The group enjoyed mild success for the rest of the decade with the release of two albums, Beggin’ After Dark and Ladies Edition.
