The story behind Jussie Smollett’s alleged homophobic attack keeps changing, and the public continues to beg for answers. (Lots of answers.)
Reports emerged from the Chicago PD last week, stating persons of interest – two Nigerian brothers – were detained at Chicago O’Hare International Airport for questioning on Wednesday (Feb. 13). The brothers – Olabinjo Osundairo and Abimbola Osundairo – have since cooperated with the CPD’s investigation, and claim Smollett worked with them to rehearse and stage the attack.
Rev. Al Sharpton addressed the case’s recent development on MSNBC’s Politics Nation this weekend, asking Jussie to take “accountability to the maximum” if the story of a “staged” attack is true.
“I, among many others when hearing of the report, said that the reports were horrific and that we should come with all that we can come with in law enforcement to find out what happened and the guilty should suffer the maximum.”
He continued, “I still maintain that,” he continued. “And if it is that Smollett and these gentlemen did in some way perpetuate something that is not true, they ought to face accountability to the maximum.”
Rev. Sharpton went on to dispel claims that this was a “left-wing hoax,” and pushed for the truth no matter the outcome.
“Let’s not act like this is some left-wing hoax that some are saying on social media. Let us get to the bottom of it, and let justice to be done – no matter who right or wrong. We cannot not get to the truth here.”
