Mary Cosby has revealed that she hasn’t visited her son in prison.
During The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 6 reunion, Mary became emotional while watching her scenes with her son, Robert Jr.
In 2025, he was arrested and sent to jail following multiple incidents involving his estranged wife and father-in-law, PEOPLE reported.
When Andy Cohen asked what made her cry, Cosby said, “My son.”
She added, “They filed a restraining order against him. And he went back anyway, thinking that she wanted him to come back and save her.”
“I don’t know where he’s getting that from. Delusional,” Mary continued. “And every time he’d go back over there, they would call the police, and they’d arrest him, and this time they tased him.”
Cosby then said that she and her husband have not visited him.
“I can’t go to jail, Andy, that’s a little weird,” she said. “No. I don’t want to look at my child behind the glass. He calls me every day, and I’m basically preaching to him. I’m like, ‘You’re going through this, but you have to realize that God is allowing it, and if God allowed it, then it’s for your good. This will help you to change, and you’ve got to change.’”
“Robert talked to him the other day, and he wants books, so Robert Sr. is sending him a lot of books,” she added.
She’s In A Good Place Despite The Challenges
Cosby said she’s “happy” and “in a good place” despite her son’s legal challenges.
“I’m not worried about him — I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using,” Cosby shared. who was previously open on RHOSLC about struggling with mental health and drug addiction. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to DUI.
“I have to step back so that he can learn, and he can make his own decision,” she added. “Unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way, but I’m okay with it. It’s just, you don’t wanna see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good, and I’d rather him be there than dead.”
