Riley Burruss, daughter of Kandi Burruss and stepdaughter of Todd Tucker, opened up about the impact of her parents’ divorce.

Appearing on TODAY Radio Show on SiriusXM with Jenna & Sheinelle, Riley shared her experience since the split.

“I will say, a lot of people forget the fact that yes, a divorce happens between two people. But it affects more than just those two people,” Riley said. “So it is really hard for me.”

Riley also spoke about how she struggled to shoot her Bravo series “Next Gen NYC.” She learned about their separation during filming.

“It’s just been a year of adapting,” she said. “And it’s tough at times. It’s easy at times, and it’s confusing. I’m still learning, honestly.”

“I’ve learned from my mom that there are a lot of things that she protects in herself. And how strong she is, how courageous,” Riley continued. “Because of all of this stuff, I didn’t even know. She wants to protect me the most she can. So being able to do that for your children, I think, is just a powerful thing.”

When the separation became public, Kandi told PEOPLE that it had been “a difficult and emotional time.”

“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce,” Kandi’s statement read. “This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”

Kandi and  Tucker officially finalized their divorce in March 2026 after 11 years of marriage.

The split marked a major shift for the reality TV power couple. They initially met on the set of RHOA back in 2011 and married in 2014. Despite initial legal back-and-forth regarding their prenuptial agreement, the final settlement was resolved efficiently as a straight business arrangement.
