Actresses Essence Atkins and Robin Givens are teaming up to star in to OWN’s new “multigenerational family drama,” Ambitions.
Stemming from film producer Will Packer and show creator Jamey Giddens, the series will feature a cast of very familiar faces including Brian White (Stomp the Yard, Ray Donovan), Kendrick Cross (The 5th Wave, Iron Man 3), Brely Evans (Sparkle, Just Wright), and Erica Page (Office Christmas Party).
Benny Boom is on board to direct the show’s pilot episode, and help share the story of a “multigenerational family saga centered around one woman who recently relocated to save and “revitalized” her marriage. But in the process of putting the pieces of her social life back together, she goes toe-to-toe with some of the city’s most powerful and deceitful players.
Shadow and Act reports Givens will play the lead role of Stephanie Carlisle, the wife of Atlanta Mayor Evan Lancaster, who’s played by Brian White. Givens character is loyal to family and their elite law firm, and wants the reigns to run things her way.
Atkins’ role comes to life through a character named Amara, who’s a lawyer in the U.S. Attorney’s Office and new to the city of Atlanta.
Ambitions will be the latest TV show added onto Givens and Atkins’ on-screen catalog. Givens currently has a recurring role on the CW’s Riverdale and slated to have a recurring role on ABC’s new series The Fix. Atkins is doing her things on the set of NBC’s Marlon.
