Robin Roberts has announced that she will be taking a break from her job at Good Morning America.
According to reports, Roberts seems to be taking a hiatus to focus on Amber Laign, her partner’s health. Laign had been diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and has recently completed her radiation treatments.
Roberts, who is a breast cancer survivor, was diagnosed in 2007 after she discovered a lump in her breast while getting ready for a news segment. She was later diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome or MBS, which is a rare blood cancer that forms abnormal cells in the body’s bone marrow.
The news anchor posted on her Instagram, a video overlooking beautiful scenery with the caption that reads, “And so it begins… wishing all a blessed weekend. Arrivederci for now.”
She also posted a motivational message on her account from her dressing where she said, “You may have made mistakes, but you are still a child of the most high God. You may have gone through disappointments, but you have royal blood flowing through your veins. You may have missed some good opportunities, but let these words sink deep down into your spirit. The king is still in you, the queen is still in you. You are still wearing a crown of favor. Now you have to start calling out that king, calling out that queen. You have to release what God has put inside of you already.”
Robin Roberts went on to share a voice memo from Laign before saying to her team, “See you in September.” We are wishing them all the best.
