Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was seriously injured in a car crash on Saturday evening in New Hampshire, according to NPR.

Giuliani, 81, was traveling on a highway when his car was “struck from behind at high speed,” said Michael Ragusa, who is also his head of security.

“He was transported to a nearby trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg,” Ragusa wrote on social media. “His business partner and medical provider were promptly contacted and arrived at the hospital to oversee his care.”

Ragusa said Giuliani was “in great spirits” and expected to be released from the hospital in a few days.

According to New Hampshire State Police, Giuliani was a passenger in a Ford Bronco driven by his associate Ted Goodman when the SUV was rear-ended at high speed by a Honda HR-V. The crash occurred on Interstate 93 around 10 p.m., sending both vehicles into the median with heavy damage.

The driver of the Honda, 19-year-old Lauren Kemp, and Goodman were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing, but no charges have been filed.

Giuliani’s son, Andrew, said, “I can tell you I’m honored to have a Dad that I can call the toughest SOB I’ve ever seen!” according to a post on X.

Andrew Giuliani is the executive director of the White House task force for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
