Ryan Coogler has signed a new deal with Netflix.

According to Variety, Coogler’s Proximity Media had landed a development deal with Netflix to direct new shows. Previously, Proximity had an overall TV deal at Disney that expired earlier this year.

Proximity Media is behind Marvel’s “Ironheart,”“Hurricane Katrina: A Race Against Time,” and the “Eyes of Wakanda.”

Ryan, along with Prommity co-founders Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, released a joint statement about the deal.

“We started Proximity Media with a simple goal: to tell event-driven stories that bring people in close proximity with often overlooked subjects. As we continue to expand Proximity’s television business, we’re thrilled to partner with Netflix. A company that has consistently demonstrated its commitment to distinctive creators and original storytelling. “We look forward to working alongside Bela, Jinny, Nne, and the entire Netflix team as we bring stories to television audiences around the world,” the statement read.

Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series, lauded the company for its work.

Proximity Media has built a remarkable reputation for championing visionary creators. And producing stories that resonate deeply with audiences worldwide,” said Howe. “The company’s founders — Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian — have cultivated an award-winning television division that continues to push the boundaries of storytelling. We are excited to welcome the entire Proximity team to Netflix. And look forward to bringing their next slate of groundbreaking series to life alongside Nne Ebong and our studio team.”

Ryan is currently commanding Hollywood’s spotlight following the massive success of Sinners. The film grossed more than $365 million worldwide and earned him his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The vampire fantasy took home four additional statuettes—including a Best Actor win for Michael B. Jordan’s dual performance as twins. The triumph adds another milestone to Coogler’s brilliant filmography, which includes writing and directing the blockbuster Black Panther franchise, helming Creed, and launching his career with the critically acclaimed Fruitvale Station.
