Janice Turner, the 63‑year‑old mother of singer Sean Kingston, received a significant prison sentence Wednesday for her role in a major fraud scheme. Turner was ordered to serve five years behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release, after a jury found her guilty of conspiring to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud.

A Million-Dollar Deception

Prosecutors detailed a scheme that spanned from October 2023 to March 2024. Turner and her son, Kisean Anderson—better known by his stage name, Sean Kingston—allegedly used fake wire transfer receipts to obtain high-value luxury merchandise. Targets included a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, designer jewelry, and a 232‑inch LED television.

One jeweler lost credibility after transferring a $285,000 Audemars Piguet watch based on falsified payment evidence.

Tearful Plea in Court

During the sentencing, Turner spoke from the bench with emotion. She said, “I’m sorry. My intention was to keep my son afloat in this difficult industry. They used him and abused him. I am begging for mercy for me and my son.”

Her attorney, Humberto Dominguez, told reporters afterward, “We have mixed feelings on it. We’ve won on some points, we obviously lost on other points, all which will be handled on appeal.”

No Show, But Support From Afar

Sean Kingston did not attend the sentencing; he remains under house arrest. Instead, he submitted a letter to the judge asking for leniency. Dominguez said the letter emphasized Turner’s age and health issues, stating, “She’s been a great mom, a loving, caring person… asking the judge to factor in her age and medical conditions.”

Jackson’s Case Timeline

Turner and Kingston were arrested in May 2024 after a SWAT team raided their Southwest Ranches home. They were indicted in July 2024 on one count of conspiracy and five counts of wire fraud.

The jury convicted both mother and son on March 28, 2025. They now face sentencing; Turner has already received hers. Sean Kingston’s sentencing is scheduled for August 15, though earlier reports mentioned July 11 and July 28—these dates were later adjusted.

What Comes Next

The court also ordered Turner to pay restitution to the defrauded businesses. A hearing to determine the exact amount is set for October 16. Following her prison term, Turner could face deportation to Jamaica and a ban on re-entering the United States.

Kingston remains under strict home confinement and is preparing for his sentencing next month. He could face up to 20 years in prison on each count, though sentencing guidelines will ultimately shape his verdict.
