Sheryl Lee Ralph and her nonprofit organization, The DIVA Foundation, have announced the upcoming 35th Anniversary Gala and Taping of DIVAS Simply Singing! This event aims “to raise awareness about important health issues.” The highly anticipated event will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 5:30 pm at the distinguished Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, California.’
Since it was established in 1990 m DIVAS Simply Singing! has consistently “emphasized advocacy through artistic expression” as a dedicated advocate for positive change. The performers for the evening inlcudn Jenifer Lewis, Loretta Devine, Lalah Hathaway, Andra Day, Mickey Guyton. Also, Grey’s Anatomy star James Pickens Jr., Gina Taylor-Pickens, Freda Payne, and India Shawn will be on hand.
“This gala is more than just a celebration—it is a powerful call to action,” Ralph said in a statement. “For 35 years, we have unwaveringly committed to our mission through song, purpose, and service. This year’s DIVAS Simply Singing! will boldly honor our rich history, continue our impactful efforts, and strategically focus on advancing health equity for the future.”
During this milestone event, the DIVA Foundation will also present its esteemed DIVA Honors program. The awards honor the “outstanding individuals whose contributions embody the organization’s equity, wellness, and advocacy mission.” This year’s distinguished honorees include Jewel Thais-Williams, recipient of the Ivory Ralph Legend of Distinction Award; Dr. Maya Green, honored with the Health Advocacy Award; Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., recipients of the AARP Crossover—Living Legends Award; and Lula Washington, recognized with the Artistic Activism Award for her impact in dance and cultural expression.
