Shirley Raines, founder of Beauty 2 The Streetz, will have a memorial in her honor on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Themed Dignity for All, the memorial pays tribute to Raines’ decade of work on Skid Row. Her core belief was that “every human being deserves to be treated as a king or a queen.”
Held at the historic First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, the memorial will also be broadcast to a global audience across social media platforms.
According to the press release, “the memorial will blend gospel music, video tributes, remarks from community members and celebrity supporters, and a live fundraising launch to carry Ms. Shirley’s mission into its next era.”

During the memorial, the first rows of the church will be reserved for the unhoused men and women that Raines dedicated her life to serving.
The service comes four weeks after her passing at age 58.
Danielle Williams, Raines’ daughter, confirmed that the cause of death was hypertensive heart disease. Also, her death was natural.
Raines was found unresponsive next to her bed in her Henderson home during a wellness check.

Raine’s organization announced Raines’ passing in a statement.
Ms. Shirley dedicated her life to serving others and made an immeasurable impact on homeless communities throughout Los Angeles and Nevada. Through her tireless advocacy, deep compassion, and unwavering commitment, she used her powerful media platform to amplify the voices of those in need and to bring dignity, resources, and hope to some of the most underserved populations,” the statement read.
”We humbly ask that you keep Ms. Shirley’s family, loved ones, and the Beauty 2 The Streetz family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement continued. “Further information will be shared as it becomes available.”
