Smokey Robinson, the legendary singer known for his velvety vocals, is being sued again for sexual assault allegations.
Months after the 85-year-old filed a whopping $500 million countersuit against the first four women who alleged to have suffered from his acts of sexual misconduct, a second round of accusers come forward with similar allegations.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the new accusers, one Jane Doe and one John Doe, seek to join an existing lawsuit filed in May by four women who previously worked for Robinson and his wife, Frances Gladney Robinson, at their California home.
“This has been an organized, avaricious campaign to extract money from an 85-year-old legend” – Attorney for Robinson
John Doe
The John Doe claims Robinson exposed himself repeatedly and once grabbed the man’s hand and tried to force it onto his genitals.
The man says hjs professional relationship with the Robinsons began around 2013, cleaning and detailing the couple’s vehicles in the early morning hours. He added that Robinson would appear outside wearing only underwear and allegedly touched or fondled his erect penis in full view.
The incident was one of several of undesired sexual advances including suggestive remarks. The complaint claims the encounters escalated in 2022 when Robinson tried to grab the man’s hand and force his hand into Robinson’s genitals.
“John” believes his declination of Robinson led to him being fired, even though he came back some time later after being rehired by the Motown star’s wife.
He eventually quit after the sexual remarks resumed, claiming the 85-year-old’s come-ons made him feel humiliated, emotionally distressed, and fearful for his safety.
A New Jane Doe
The additional female accuser seeking to join the suit says she worked as a housekeeper and alleges that, on more than ten occasions, Robinson grabbed her hand and attempted to force her to touch him.
Her allegations echo those of the four Jane Doe’s who filed the initial suit in May.
Statement from Smokey Robinson’s lawyer
Robinson’s lawyer shared the following statement amid the recent lawsuit:
These plaintiffs are part of the same group of people who have conspired together against the Robinsons and are layering out their claims for maximum adverse publicity.
We have already explained in the Robinsons’ lawsuit against this group for defamation, civil conspiracy and elder abuse that, all along, this has been an organized, avaricious campaign to extract money from an 85-year-old legend. This group of people, who hide behind anonymity, and their attorneys seek global publicity while making the ugliest of false allegations. We have sought the Court’s intervention multiple times to require these anonymous individuals to divulge essential information, turn over relevant evidence, and to share deposition transcripts with the District Attorney. For obvious reasons, this group of Does and their attorneys refuse to be forthcoming with all the evidence possible to investigate their own claims. Once the public can see the truth, their avaricious motives and fabricated claims will be revealed.
